About Fairbanks Ranch

by Peter Toner

Fairbanks Ranch is an exclusive gated community named after Hollywood actor Douglas Fairbanks who used to have a ranch there.

Fairbanks is very child friendly, there is even a kids directory to help organize play dates and car pooling, although the local elementary school is right next door.

Prices start in the mid $1,000,000's and go up to about $10,000,000! There are quite a variation of home styles, the majority having floor plans in excess of 5,000 sq ft. Most have pools, guest houses and some boast tennis courts.

Amenities include a lakeside club house, tennis courts, 40 acres of open space, fenced horse trails, an equestrian center, two lakes, walking trails and picnic spots.

Rancho Zorro (now Fairbanks Ranch) was bought by Douglas Fairbanks Jr. and Mary Pickford in 1926, as a retreat away from Hollywood.

He named the ranch after his movie "The mark of Zorro" and planted hundred of citrus trees, acres of beans, tomatoes and grain to feed the 250 head of cattle that roamed the ranch.

The seven acre lake was created in 1928 – here it is today:

Fairbanks Ranch appeals to privacy seeking individuals who enjoy outdoor pursuits.

Douglas Faribanks Jr. was not married to Mary Pickford.  He was the son of Anna Beth Sully and Douglas Fairbanks Sr. who was later married to Mary Pickford.
