One of the prime locations in La Jolla is El Paseo Grande, La Jolla Shores. This beach front section of the street runs from La Jolla Shores Park to the south, up to the edge of the Scripps Institute of Oceanography to the north.
These ocean front homes on El Paseo Grande, 22 in all, on the northern end of The Shores, are highly prized.
Typically, these El Paseo Grande beach front homes have sold for in excess of $10 million. The photo (below) was taken from the terrace of one of the last homes to be sold – quite the view of the beach and Scripps Pier isn’t it!
On good surfing days the water is filled with surfers and body boarders, with long board paddle surfers too.
This photo of beach front homes on El Paseo Grande is taken from the sand – near the pier, looking south:
On the southern end of this section is the start of the boardwalk on La Jolla Shores, a very popular location to stroll, exercise or just take in the view.
La Jolla Shores boardwalk.
This wide boardwalk runs from the last oceanfront home, past La Jolla Shores Park, the new Lifeguard Station, past Kellogg Park and The Shores Hotel, until it reaches The Beach and Tennis Club grounds.
