About The Covenant in Rancho Santa Fe

by Peter Toner

The Rancho Santa Fe Association founded in 1927, ensures the preservation of the rural character of the Rancho Santa Fe Covenant area and its natural landscape of approx. 6,200 acres.

The Association also operates and maintains the golf course, tennis club, playing fields, and riding and hiking trails for the benefit of its members.

Sidewalks and street lights are banned from residential areas. Winding driveways lead to California ranch, traditionally styled Tudor, country French and Spanish Mediterranean style homes.

The low -humidity, balmy climate is ideal for the relaxed outdoor life for which "the Ranch" is known.

There are many different and distinctive architectural styles of homes presented throughout its roads, many of which are horse ranches and or gated estates – as you might expect from the median price index.

More information can be gleaned at the official RSF Association site.

Membership of the Rancho Santa Fe Golf Course is only available to residents who live in the "Covenant" – Social Membership of the club is automatic, golf membership currently costs $50,000.

The course runs adjacent to the Village center, which can be seen at bottom right of this photo:
